Prayer Blanket Ministry

Prayer Blanket Ministry became a ministry of the Christ Renews His Parish Team #4.  This is a healing ministry and is available to all who request it.

How It Works:
A parishioner requests a blanket for someone who may be going into the hospital for surgery, someone terminally ill, or just someone who is not well right now but who will recover.  The recipient can be anyone, not necessarily a parishioner or even a Catholic.

A blanket is given to the parishioner that makes the request initially and during Mass, they bring the blanket forward during the offertory with the gifts to be blessed by the celebrant. The blanket is then taken to the back of church and placed on a table.  As the congregation leaves the church, they may lay their hands on and pray over the blanket for the recipient.  The blanket is then taken by those who requested it to the recipient.  The person making the initial request can also place the blanket in the Adoration Chapel to be prayed over until it can be given to the recipient.

We keep a supply of blankets on hand so that when a blanket is requested, we can supply it immediately.  We have prayer blankets for men, women and children.

The blanket is folded and tied with a ribbon like a gift with a card signed by the requestor and a short prayer.
